The Pacifique Treize Intrust Super Cup bid welcomes the news that the Fédération Française de Rugby à XIII (FFRXIII) has provisionally approved the promotion of the Montpellier Sharks to the 2021-22 Elite 2 competition.
Currently based in the National Division, Montpellier are one of two new clubs expected to join an expanded Elite 2 when it kicks off on October 3.
The 2021-22 Elite 2 competition will feature twelve clubs, with the Sharks and fellow newcomers, Gratentour, joining Carpentras, Entraigues, Ille-sur-Têt, Lescure, Lyon-Villeurbanne, Pia, Salon, Villefranche-de-Rouergue and Villegailhenc.
Pacifique Treize and the Montpellier Sharks formalised a partnership earlier this year focusing on supporting domestic programmes within New Caledonia as well as providing pathway opportunities for the talented identified within the territory.
As part of the partnership, the Sharks have provided Pacifique Treize with on-ground resources as well as patheay opportunities for New Caledonian players to train and play with the Sharks club.
