Lucas Jalabert makes his Rugby League debut for Montpellier

Lucas Jalabert is the latest New Caledonian player to make his debut in the French Elite Two competition after starting on the wing for the Montpellier Sharks in their clash against Baho Geckos on Sunday.

Lucas becomes the third New Caledonian player picked up by the Sharks after Alex Mauvaka played for the side in the 2019/20 season, whilst Yohan Tavita was set to train with the club back in March this year.

Jalabert has previously played for Club de Rugby Educatif et Citoyen (CREC) in the local Rugby Union competition in Noumea, as well trained with the Pacifique Treize Development squad in New Caledonia.

Through the partnership between the Montpellier Sharks and Pacifique Treize, Lucas will continue his Rugby League development in France.

The Sharks unfortunately went down to Racing Club Baho, 74 – 10 in Sunday’s encounter.
